Jeff Harwell has practiced business valuation, financial forensics, and machinery and equipment appraisal in Tarrant County for over two decades. He holds three professional credentials: Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF), and Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser (CMEA). The CVA and MAFF are issued by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). The CMEA is issued by the NEBB Institute (NEBBI).

A graduate of the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University, Jeff has built a practice serving family law attorneys, commercial litigators, business owners contemplating sale or succession, and the CPAs who refer them. His engagements span manufacturing, distribution, professional services, healthcare, energy services, construction, and food service.

Jeff served as Texas State Chapter President of NACVA and was recognized with the Outstanding Member Award in 2012, among the highest honors in the profession. He has served on the NACVA Standards Committee, the State Chapter Committee, the Education and Quality Assurance Board, and the Ambassador’s Editorial Board.

A frequent speaker and author for NACVA, Jeff has contributed to QuickRead and other professional publications. He has also taught at the university level as adjunct faculty. Before founding Harwell & Company, he served as a public-company financial executive, a turnaround and operations consultant, and the president of a privately-held manufacturing and distribution business.

Jeff’s work concentrates in three areas, each tied to one of his three credentials. For attorneys, his work most often supports family law (divorce, personal goodwill carve-out under Nail v. Nail and Von Hohn v. Von Hohn) and commercial litigation (lost profits, lost earnings, asset tracing). For business owners and CPAs, the work is exit planning, buy-sell agreements, estate and gift, and machinery and equipment appraisal for financing, SBA loans, cost segregation, and 1031 exchanges.
